FAQ

Still have questions? We understand!

We want to make sure that you are well informed on this amazing initiative.
We also want you to participate with confidence over the next two years.
For that reason, we have prepared a list of FAQs to help you. If you don't see your question below, please reach out to us at multiply@bscc.org.

How does Multiply change my giving to the General Fund?

Our Overseers and Finance Team will ensure that ministry and mission needs are resourced according to our church's priorities. There will still be a church-approved budget each year during Multiply. This budget, as well as each of the Multiply initiatives, will be funded, God willing, through our Multiply giving.

What are you asking me to do?

First, we are asking you to pray and seek the Lord during the Multiply initiative.
Commit to attending a worship service and a Small Group each week of the
five-week Multiply initiative, and use this Multiply Booklet as you seek God’s direction.
Talk with your spouse, your family, or others about what God is saying to you and about what your involvement will mean for this next exciting season of your life.

And yes, we are asking that you join us in making a sacrificial commitment to
gospel-centered generosity – whatever it is that God leads you to do, follow His leading. The primary goal of Multiply is 100% engagement of our entire church family, and that includes you!

Finally, we ask that you prepare to be amazed. We serve an awesome God and He is going to move in huge ways. We anticipate an unprecedented impact from our collective Multiply commitments – something only God can do. Mark your calendar for Commitment Sunday, November 19, and prepare to see the amazing work God will do through BSCC.

Are there additional ways that I can give more towards Multiply?

Be creative as you explore ways you and your family can give towards Multiply. You might have some stocks, real estate, or other items of personal property that you wish to give. Or you may have other types of stored resources that God has blessed you with in the past that He might be calling you to give out of during this time. If you have questions regarding how to make these types of gifts, please contact David Judd at djudd@bscc.org or 816-229-7311 x239 and he would be honored to help.

How long is my commitment?

We are asking everyone to make a two-year commitment. The fulfillment period for your commitment will begin with our First Big Give on December 3, 2023, and it will culminate in December 2025.

Why should I complete and submit a Multiply Commitment Card?

What if I'm not a member of BSCC?

We wouldn’t get very far in life without a willingness to commit ourselves. Commitment also is central to our faith and at the very heart of following Jesus.
We make a commitment to Him, and He expects us to be committed to His Body, the Church. Our church needs to know our individual commitments so that it knows what it has to work with and can plan and proceed accordingly. God grows us and shapes us according to our priorities and through the commitments we make to Him.
So, we invite you to take this powerful, life-changing discipleship step by joining us with your two-year Multiply generosity commitment.
These are exciting days at BSCC and will no doubt be remembered for years to come. You are here and we would love for you to go with us on this amazing journey of faith.
If you watch and wait, you won’t be able to truly share in the joy of this season or experience all God has for you. We believe God brought you here, and we want you to be a part of all God is doing at BSCC. We need you on the team, and this is a perfect time for you to put a stake in the ground and make BSCC your church.

What if I haven't been baptized yet?

What if I've never given, or don't regularly give, to BSCC?

Great question. People take different spiritual steps at different times. Some people begin praying before they begin attending church. Others begin going to a Small Group before they begin talking to God in prayer. Giving is another spiritual step, and it comes at different times for different people. One thing is for sure, however, just like other spiritual disciplines, giving draws us closer to God. Whether you have taken the spiritual step of baptism or not, we would encourage you to still join us in this Multiply initiative. We firmly believe it will draw you closer to God and hopefully to a place where you are ready to make the decision to become baptized and to surrender your life to the Lordship of Christ.
Multiply was crafted specifically with you in mind. Multiply is a “one fund” generosity initiative, meaning that it is different from a traditional capital campaign where you are called to give an extra gift above and beyond your normal giving - thus creating two steps for people who aren’t yet giving.
The primary goal of Multiply is 100% engagement of everyone at BSCC, and that includes you. We are praying this will be a disciple-making, faith-building, life-changing experience in our church and your own heart and life. To get anywhere, you must start somewhere, and Multiply is a great place to start your giving adventure.

What if I'm not in a good place or position to give to Multiply right now?

We encourage you to reflect on the following two Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." God invites us to test him when it comes to his promises to provide for us whenever we choose to give to his kingdom and work, including in difficult times. 2 Corinthians 8:12 "For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have." During this Multiply initiative, please do not feel pressured to give God something that you do not have.

What if my circumstances change during the Multiply initiative?

Your commitment to Multiply is an intent to give and is voluntary and non-binding.
A commitment to the Lord and to Multiply is an important step of faith. We shouldn’t make any commitment without prayerfully seeking the Lord. However, none of us know the future. If your financial circumstances significantly change, one way or the other, over the next two years, we encourage you to prayerfully seek God's guidance at that time.

What is this really about?

Giving is the fruit, not the root. Again, Multiply isn't about what God wants from you; rather, it's about what God wants for you. God wants to do a great work in your heart. Your commitment to the Lord and to Multiply will impact far more than your finances, it may very well be the turning point in your life and on your faith journey, as you walk with Jesus and make an eternal impact on your world for Him.
